
Zeff Ekumbo appointed by Rwanda Swimming Federation to lead key training program

He is expected to lead a Level One course that will involve thirty officials
Governor of Kajiado County Aquatics Association Zeff Ekumbo has earned another feather in his cap after being selected by the Rwanda Swimming Federation to facilitate a Level One course for swimming technical officials.
Ekumbo, who harbors an extensive background that includes officiating at the Olympic Games, landed an invite from the Rwanda Swimming Federation President, Pamela Girimbabazi, and will be tasked to train 30 officials this week.
Among the lessons - all in line with World Aquatics rules and regulations - the Zelfish Aquatics head coach is intended to give are geared to equipping Rwandan officials with the knowledge and skills needed to maintain high standards in swimming competitions, while ensuring fairness and excellence.
"I am impressed to be recognized by the Rwanda Swimming Federation to train their officials as they aim to uplift their swimming standards,” Ekumbo said on Monday, when the five-day course began. “I am more than ready to assist when called upon since swimming is in my blood, and I do it with passion. I have been working on a program to mentor young and upcoming coaches and officials."
Ekumbo’s selection for this role underscores his expertise and dedication to advancing the sport, and goes a long way in strengthening ties between the two nations aiming to achieve continuous professional development in sports.
On the other hand, Girimbabazi’s leadership in the Rwanda Swimming Federation is equally commendable.
As a former Olympian, she brings a wealth of experience and inspiration to Rwandan swimming, with the collaboration with Kenya highlighting the collaborative spirit in African sports.
